German American Bund

The German American Bund (AV) was America’s largest and most well-known nationalist organization in the 1930s. The main purposes of this organization were to encourage trade between Germany and the United States, push for the adoption of the National Socialism concepts that would better the US economy, have family functions often, and to preserve German culture in the United States1. It was also believed that members wanted to form a positive few of the Nazi party.

This group reflects the doubts that some people of the country had in the United States’ government at this time. They felt that the current way of government was not fixing the economic downfall, so they provided an alternative. Also, it shows the negative views Germany was starting to receive all around the world. If the majority of people approved of the Nazi party initially, then something like this would never have been necessary.

Supporters of this Pushed for Germany to be Included More in the United States’ Affairs

After this time period, when the Nazi form of government was overthrown, this party also stopped advancing. During their existence, this group created a number of clashes within the United States. It also created more tension between nationalities2. The Nazi party was one of the most influential political movements in history, and this was a major movement advocating it which created its own history.
